Mullein leaf or Verbascum thapsus, is an herb from the Scrophulariaceae family that has been used as natural medicine for thousands of years. This plant can grow to great heights, with nearly eight foot tall flower spikes and large, fuzzy leaves. After about two years of growth, its yellow blooms will open – but only for a few days. While generally considered a weed, Mullein can be mashed into an extract or the leaves can be brewed as a tea.

Mullein leaf is commonly used as an expectorant. Expectorants are substances that thin mucus to purge it from your system. This herb is used in respiratory support blends and may help to soothe a stubborn cough. Mullein contains antioxidants, vitamins and essential minerals making it a welcome addition to your health care regimen.
